Driver Charged With DWI After Hitting Bicyclist In Westchester, Police Say

A bicyclist was hospitalized after being struck by an allegedly drunk driver in Westchester.

The bicyclist was struck shortly after midnight on Sunday, July 7 in New Rochelle near the intersection of Pelham Road and Locust Avenue, police said. Both he and the driver were allegedly intoxicated at the time of the crash.

The driver - whose name has not been released - was charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicular assault. It was unclear if the bicyclist will face any charges.

The police investigation into the strike is ongoing. The bicyclist was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx for treatment on injuries, and his condition was not immediately available.
